International Summer School(XJTISS)

Introduction

E-commerce has become an important driving force for global economic development. Global e-commerce shows the characteristics of expanding market scale, increasingly fierce market competition, and the rise of sharing economy. On this basis, how to innovate and develop e-commerce and ensure its sustainability has become an urgent task.

The course sets up an international and diversified teaching team, brings together foreign experts from Asia, North America, and Europe, promotes academic exchange and dialogue through teaching, promotes Chinese academic "going out" while "bringing in", forms a benign academic dialogue and academic community, and improves the international dissemination and influence of Chinese academic discourse. At the same time, the course can cultivate students' ability to read English literature, write English summaries, report in English, understand the current development of global e-commerce, and be able to communicate and exchange in different cultural backgrounds, enhancing students' international perspective.

Professor Liu Shan

Professor of Information System and Intelligent Business of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Vice Dean of School of Management. Engaged in scientific research and teaching in the field of e-commerce for a long time. In 2009, he received a doctorate in Management science and engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, and was the founding executive editor of Data Science and Management. He has written or co-authored over 80 research articles, including articles published or accepted in the Journal of Operations Management, IEEE Engineering Management Transactions, Information Systems Journal, European Journal of Information Systems, European Journal of Operations Research, and Information and Management. His research interests include IT project management, e-commerce, and data analytics.

Jae Kyu Lee

Distinguished Professor of School of Management of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Honorary Professor of KAIST. Since 1985, he has served as Professor KAIST and Chairman of the Information Systems Association (2015-6). He is the founder of Bright Internet Principles and founded Bright Internet Research Center in KAIST and Xi'an Jiaotong University. He also founded the Sunshine Internet Global Summit and the Bright Internet Project Federation in 2019, which were published on www.brightinternet.org. In 1985, he obtained a PhD in Information and Operations Management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. His research areas include artificial intelligence, e-commerce, information systems, and the Bright Internet.


Wu Chuang

Assistant Professor, School of Management, Xi'an Jiaotong University. His research interests focus on corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship, innovation, corporate governance and corporate strategy. His work has been published in several academic journals, including the Journal of Management and the IEEE Engineering Management Transactions.


Foreign cooperative experts

Kyung Jun Lee

Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Business, Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea. He is the director of the UCAI (User Centered Artificial Intelligence) Forum and the Institute of Humanitas Big data Research Center. He has served as a visiting scientist and professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of California, Berkeley. In 2017, he served as the President of the Korean Society for Intelligent Information Systems.


Han Zhang

Professor of Information Technology Management (ITM) and Steven A. Denning Professor of Technology & Management at the Scheller College of Business, Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on online trust and reputation, user-generated content, online healthcare, and human-AI interaction. He has published in MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Management Information Systems, and other reputable academic journals. His research has been featured in Wall Street Journal. Professor Zhang is a co-founder of China Summer Workshop on Information Management (CSWIM). He currently serves as a senior editor for MIS Quarterly and Co-Editor-in-Chief for Information & Management.


Xianjun Geng

Professor of Management Science, Freeman School Distinguished Chair in Business, and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs at the A. B. Freeman School of Business in Tulane University. His research interests include pricing, supply chain management, business analytics, information security and behavioral economics. His work has appeared in Management Science (in IS, Marketing and OM departments), Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Marketing, Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing and other academic journals. Geng currently serves as Senior Editor for Production and Operations Management. Previously he served as Associate Editor for Management Science, Information Systems Research and MIS Quarterly.

Xin Luo

Xin Luo is an Endowed Dean's Professor of Research Excellence and tenured Full Professor of Management Information Systems at the Anderson School of Management of the University of New Mexico. Prof. Luo’s research interests center around behavioral information systems security management, privacy protection, innovative technologies for strategic decision-making and development, and cross-cultural IT management. He has published in prestigious international journals such as Information Systems Research, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, among others.

Zhangxi Lin

Honorary Professor at Texas Tech University, holds a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master's degree in Computer Applications from Tsinghua University, and a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Guiding member of the International E-commerce Conference.


Curriculum system

This course is based on the research of e-commerce theory, design, development, evaluation, and application. It will discusse how to innovate and develop E-commerce, and combines with the AI/ChatGPT, which is currently the most concerned topic in the world. It will review the innovation progress of the United States, China, and South Korea in the new generation of AI and the Bright Internet. The course will invite experts from academia and the industry to introduce the interesting topics about the opportunities & challenges and yesterday & future of Generative AI. It will also review the social impact and responsibility of AI from the perspective of research on the origin of Bright Internet, explore the content of AI generation and the support of artificial intelligence in Bright Internet, and provide new insights for future academic research.

Enrollment target: Undergraduate students in their sophomore and junior years, as well as graduate students with unlimited grades, are recruited globally.

Enrollment: 100 students online, unlimited number of students offline. Students from our school participate in offline courses, while students from other schools participate in online courses.

Student treatment: Xi'an Jiaotong University provides a study certificate (completion certificate) for this summer course.
